The West End Business Group held it’s first business card exchange on December 12th at Larry’s BBQ & Grill in Brodheadsville. There were 67 people registered and approximately 75 people who attended the event over its three hour duration. A flag donated by Grace Marks, Legislative Aide for Senator Patrick Browne, was won in a business card drawing by Donna Paterson, Branch Manager for Citizens Bank in Brodheadsville. Russ Bailor from Fishers Heating and Air Conditioning in Effort won a free hour of massage at Feel Kneaded, a new massage clinic now open for business in Stroudsburg.
Larry and the staff at Larry’s BBQ & Grill did an outstanding job hosting the exchange. Their catering and dining talents were on display. The food and atmosphere were excellent, and the staff kept everything running smoothly the entire evening. Thanks, Larry & Simona!

The West End Business Group held it’s second business card exchange on January 16th at La Familia in Brodheadsville. There were 55 people registered and approximately 70 people who attended the event over its three hour duration. Several door prizes were donated by businesses attending. John Magluilo of Brodheadsville Radio Shack gave away a free computer checkup and cleaning valued at $75.00, won by Cathy Gurzowski of Inspirations Medical Spa in Brodheadsville. Barbara Konawalik, Lori Ruiz, and Rose Demery of ESSA Bank & Trust in Brodheadsville donated 3 mugs full of goodies. Won by Jennifer Velcamp of Pocono Community Bank in Brodheadsville, Ken Oakman of PA CareerLink in Tannersville, and Gloria Sprague of Menu Master. Grace Marks from Senator Pat Browne’s office in Brodheadsville provided an American flag, which was won by Dave Trout of the Mt. Gilead Camp & Conference Center in Reeders.

The West End Business Group enjoyed its third and final free promotional business card event Wednesday, February 13th at Luna Rossa in Gilbert. Though the weather conspired to make it difficult, if not downright dangerous to attend, over 50 people showed up to enjoy the wonderful, family oriented atmosphere and excellent food provided by Luna Rossa’s staff. Our host, Dorothy Thornton, while harried by frequent technical frustrations and flooding courtesy of the weather, made sure this event was most successful and enjoyable for us all. A full selection of food was made available as well as a large dining area for us all to sit down together and enjoy it. After our dinner, we made our way into the dance hall area where we conducted our largest Business Card Drawing yet where many prizes were given out to the lucky winners. These included the following:
A 90 minute one on one knife skills workshop with Chef Alice.

Free 30 minute massage or facial from Inspirations Medical Spa in Brodheadsville.

A coffee mug filled with goodies was donated from ESSA Bank, presented by Barbara Konawalik.

The event lasted formally for 2 hours, but people were still talking excitedly about various business opportunities a half-hour after the event was over. The West End Business Group welcomed its first official member business, Albright Electric, who signed up for membership during the event. Freeman Gladd, owner of Albright Electric was very happy with the group and the event itself and will certainly be seen at future events. Many membership forms were distributed and we gladly welcome and encourage business people to join as soon as possible so they don’t miss out.

The West End Business Group, LLC held their latest business card exchange on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Century 21 Select in Brodheadsville. Over 35 people were in attendance at this exciting two hour event. Myra Francis spoke about how her company Edward Jones can help local businesses before a 50/50 drawing was held to benefit the Easter Seals. Local businessman Jim Mulvaney of Century 21 Select won the drawing and donated his winnings, which totaled $66.00, to the Easter Seals.

On Wednesday, August 13, the West End Business Group LLC, held another excellent card exchange at the Citizens Bank in Brodheadsville. The official time was 5-7 PM, but many people arrived early and stayed late to network even after the event ended.
Near the end of the event, a raffle took place, with a green Northern Gravity Field Bag donated by Citizen’s Bank as the prize. The winner was Mike Sutton of Prepaid Legal Services.
